Alfa Romeo Tipo 33: The Development and Racing History (Veloce Classic Reprint) de Ed McDonough
Descripción - Críticas Veloce's decision to reprint Peter Colllins and Ed McDonough's meticulous trip through the Alfa Romeo T33's history is a good one. It's a story of intrigue, confusion and a world title. The pair make good headway into the T33's mazy history. They skip the politics pdf Alfa where possible, instead unpicking the confusion. The book succeeds in telling the car's core story. Their enthusiasm shines through, and fine photos complete a worthwhile reissue. - Motor Sport. The Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 is a reprint of a book that was first published in 2005, however, that does not detract from it in any way. The author starts with the story of with the launch of the T33 in early 1967, but it was not universally acclaimed. Italian driver Nino Galli, who has written one of the forwards, described the cars chassis as being a disaster. Little did anyone know at the time that this was the start of a journey that was to last 10 years. There is an interesting chapter on some concept cars that evolved from the Tipo 33. There was the Bortone Carabo, the Pinifarina P33 Roadster and 33 Prototype Speciale, the wedge-shaped Cuneo and the Navajo. To be honest, some were absolutely dreadful but do deserve some space in a book devoted to the Tipo 33. Lavishly illustrated, a list of results and of existing cars make this a worthwhile addition to the library.- Historic Racing Technology. It has been a bus year for the Veloce Classic Reprint Series, and this is another well researched effort from Peter Collins and Ed McDonough which was originally published in 2005. The book starts with a timely waning about the difficulties researching an accurate history of the various chassis used, not helped by the lack of Alfa/Autodelta record keeping, and then clarifies the approach that will be used. And it works - the authors are open about what is known and what is not, and document the anomalies. It's as accurate as can be. The story is well sprinkled with anecdotes from drivers and test drivers, shedding light on how the car was viewed in period, although possibly coloured by the passing of the years, something the authors highlight themselves as they consider other possibly contradiction views. An imforative read which is also well illustrated, with plenty of pictures (over 400 according to the blurb) of all the models highlighting the metamorphosis from promise to a world championship winner. With all the detail in this book, one wonders what extra could possibly go into a more extensive second book detailing the chassis histories which the authors reference as an effort for the future, which is probably why one hasn't yet appeared - the authors did a fine job the first time around. - www.silhouet.com. The book comes in the square format and shows on the protective cover a great driving reception of a Tipo 33. Its colors are then also used for the bay title and thus a quite coherent picture results. When looking at the book, the table of contents is first followed, which already reveals the general approach of the authors. Thus, all developments are presented in chronological order followed by three further chapters on special topics. To this end, seven attachments are also to be found and offer seemingly many numbers and surveys. A better documentation of the history of Tipo 33 seems hardly possible. - autobuch.guru. Aficionados of Alfa Romeo, sportscar fans and historians alike will be pleased to know the definitive book on the development and racing history of the car that twice won the world championship for sportscars in the 1970s has been reprinted and re-released within the company's 'Classic Reprint' range after a long absence. A complete competition listing is included, outlining both the factory and privateer teams that represented the marque, the drivers and their achievements. Author Peter Collins, an acknowledged expert of all things racing Italian, and Ed McDonough, racing driver who was present at the time cars were competing and now writer, have managed to put together all the historical data, including many facts not recorded at the time, and surrounded these with many period photos to bring the story to life. The book finished with a complete chassis by chassis listing, showing the evolution made over the eight year period, and a chapter on driving and owning the cars today for chassis endurance racing. - Chequered Flag Services.
